This assumes the kernel was compiled with IP forwarding built in. In my
experience, all stock modern (2.0.x and 2.2.x) kernels come this way.

You have to give the X server on your workstation permission to run X
clients from the remote host. The crude (insecure) way to do this is with
the command

        xhost +hostname

which will allow access by X clients running on the specific host you want.

Thee are better, more secure ways; the above one is just to get you started.
"man Xsecurity" will introduce you to the details better than I can in an
