Users of any SysV init systems would say what you did and it will work, however
the writers redhat systems would say;
Create a sysv init style script in /etc/rc.d/init.d and make a symbolic link in
/etc/rc.d/rc.<default_runlevel>
I say what the heck, as long as what you do works then use it.
