No. It's not. binutils includes as and ld which can assemble 32-bit
protected mode code. as86 and ld86 are in the bin86 package, which create
16-bit real mode code( used for booting ). A mandrake package can be found here
ftp://rpmfind.net/linux/MandrakeCooker/cooker/Mandrake/RPMS/bin86-0.4.9mdk.i586.rpm
and looking on your companies site, I found as86 to be in
ftp://ftp.turbolinux.com/turbolinux/TurboLinux/RPMS/bin86-0.4-7.i386.rpm
and _not_ in
ftp://ftp.turbolinux.com/turbolinux/TurboLinux/RPMS/binutils-2.9.1.0.25-7.i386.rpm
