Well ... it depends on how serious the Y2K BIOS problem is.

1. You can change the kernel clock with the "date" command. The problem with
this is that you need to do it every time you reboot.

2. You can change the BIOS clock from Linux with the "hwclock" command. (In
fact, my distribution of choice, Debian, runs this as part of its shutdown
sequence.) But if the BIOS Y2K problem is severe, this change won't take --
and that's a problem with TOshiba support, not with Linux.

3. You can use "rdate" or "ntpdate" to sync your Linux host to another
machine that keeps the correct time. For this to work, it will need to be
connected to a network that can reach your timeserver every time it is rebooted.

Only option #2 really solves your problem, and I don't know if it will work
in your case.

For details on the commands I named, their man pages should be sufficient.
