Hi,

The Xpert2000 is actually based on the Rage128VR chipset, which has a 128bit
Internal engine, but a 64bit data bus.
Some newer versions have 2 of these data buses, but it is not a 128GL
chipset.

I though that the latest version of Xfree86 supported it though. I am sure
that the next version will however, as ATI have released development kits
for 2D, 3D, and also idct acceleration to the Linux community.

There is a commercial package available, if you are intersted, check out
http://www.xig.com

Any more questions, feel free to ask!

Barry.

Subject: ATI Xpert 2000

Hi,

I have bought myself an Athlon 500 machine with an Xpert 2000 Ati card. I
have installed redhat 6.0 and it has installed except that the Xwindow does
not work because redhat 6.0 does not support Xpert 2000(Rage 128 GL).

I have tried to install Xwindow 3.3.6 which I got from Xfree86. I had a
problem with the Glib thing. What Glib version does Redhat 6.0 use and how
should I update this Glib so that I can use the latest version of Xwidow. I
tried a version with glib 2.1 but it does not work.

Has anybody come across such a problem.

Nima
