Greg,
Your first impression was correct; I only had xlib6g. dpkg -L xlib6 showed
that it wasn't installed. Installing xlib6 took care of the problem.

Now acrobat and nedit run fine. (They were both .deb packages.) On the
other hand, the freeciv .deb won't install; it gives a dependency error
message about needing a newer version of libc6. (I have 2.0.7 and it needs
2.1.) So now I'm trying to fix that by downloading & installing the newer
version. (I'm hoping that won't break anything else!)
Thanks again,
Jeff Nelson
