I did as you suggest, although I had assumed that when I ran ls -la
.f* in the /home/myuser directory, and it showed myuser as owner of
the .fetchmailrc file, there would be no ownership questions requiring
running the chown command. Running chown as you suggest did not change
the report returned by ls.

Well, this suggestion was an eye opener. I've never even noticed that
file before! I see, however, that it is there, but is an empty
file. Where would I find directions on the proper format for editing
it? When I put in the hostname, would I use the fully qualified name,
domain.com, or just the local domain?
