I am running RH 5.2 on a couple of networked machines and have a small problem with changing runlevels. On the odd occassion I have dropped out of multi-user mode to single user mode using telinit 1, then back to multi-user mode with telinit 3, I find that the virtual console I am using is broken and am unable to login. The keyboard no longer outputs a carriage return, thus there is no way to enter username / password. Has anyone else experienced this problem, and is there a solution.
