Hi, I have been experiencing this problem in various forms since RedHat
4.something,
I am currently using Mandrake 7 (based on RedHat)
The thing is that the hostname that other machines on the LAN see my Linux
box as, includes the domain name, it is most noticeable from SUN Sparc boxes
and Exceed Win32 X sessions that browse for available X-clients.
When I type hostname I get
mypc.mydomain.com
when I type domainname I get
(a blank line)
when I type dnsdomainname I get
mydomain.com
when I type nisdomainname I get
(a blank line, which is what I would expect
because I do not use NIS)
when I type ypdomainname I get
(a blank line, which is what I would expect
because I do not use YP)
If there is any other information I can give that will help please let me
know.
