Hi!
The system: Celeron 500 on an Epox EP-3VBA Board, DawiControl DC-2976 UW SCSI
controller , IBM DNES 9.1 HDD, CDRW SCSI HP9210i burner,
64 Mb RAM, running kernel 2.2.13 from SuSE 6.3.
The task: a whole directory on the HDD containing a MySQL database with sensitive data
that may not remain on the drive permanently must be backed up to CD R/W at the end of
the day, the backup compared to the original, a user must be alerted if the backup
failed, if not the original dir on the disk shall be deleted (ugh, I'd better do
weekly backups too). In the morning, this needs to go vice versa.
What would you use to accomplish this? A script, shell or Perl? A backup program, if
so, which?
I'm eagerly awaiting your ideas.
Bye, Christoph
