Peter,
I am not sure what gaby is? There is KPPP for the KDE desktop envoriment,
easy to use graphical dialer, I think GNOME also has a graphical PPP
program, forgot the name though.
There is also the standard console based `ppp` program, or `pppd`. man ppp;
man pppd.
Also check http://www.freshmeat.net it has allot of program avaiable for
starting a ppp connection. There is also a couple howto (isp-dial,
ppp-howto) at http://www.linuxdoc.org that might be worth checking out.
