win2000 is more like nt, like an nt/win98 hybrid. I'm trying to find
win2000+linux
specific info for a friend of mine, so I don't know specifically what problem he
ran into.
at this point we're looking into the dual booting win nt + linux howto's
hopefully that help.
any info would be appreciated

Take a look into your /usr/doc/*howto*/mini directory(s), there are a few
different files to read.
Linux+DOS+Win95+OS2
Linux+Win95
Unless win2000 has any special or new things included in its boot loader
then those files should tell you what you want to know.
