Recommended modem & NIC

Hello. Can anyone recommend a good 56K modem and a
good network card that work well (have good drivers)
for Linux? (I use RH6.2)

In Windoze, I'm comfortable using a US Robotics modem 
and a 3Com 3c905B NIC. But I seem to recall a problem
with Boomerang drivers. Is it still a problem?
