I've just installed Mandrake one my girl friend's box and was very
suprised how easy it was without knowing much of the hardware inside
(which was mandatory until some months ago). With it comes a very good
User Manual and a Reference Guide. Both are better than anything I've
seen shipped with distributions eleswehere. It's also in HTML format on
the installation CD, in the folder 'doc'.
As for the kernel architecture, the still is the Tanenbaum book for the
theory and the source for the experiment.
