I'm trying to set up ppp for dial out from
Redhat 6.2 without using X.
I started with a simple /etc/ppp/ppp-on script,
but get the error:
pppd started by
root
chat: can't get terminal
parameters: I/O error
pppd: connection script
failed
Can anyone explain this? I do ok with
wvdial.
Speaking of which, I'm not sure how to use it. When run, I
establish a ppp connection., but without a command prompt, can't use it. That
is, the wvdial is running in the command prompt. Sorry for the naive question,
but if I lack a prompt, how can I ping, etc?
Another question. The Linux is a server on a network of
Windows 98 machines, and my intention is to use the Linux box, which connets to
an ISP via modem, to provide web access to the Windows machines. I don't run X
on the server, and don't know just how to set up a share in Samba represting web
access, or is that not what I'm supposed to be doing?
