See if it is a library mislatch. Try "ldd /whatever_your_path_is/linuxconf"
and see if you have the right versions of the libraries it needs. glibc 2.0
vs. 2.1 is a likely culprit. 

Less likely is a bad download, or a buggy compile of linuxconf. Do you feel
up to getting the .srpm and compiling locally?

You could use "strace" to see where in the app the segfault occurs; that
might narrow down the possibilities a bit.

Since you don't say what Linux distribution or version you are running (and
many different distributions use the .rpm package format), it is hard to say
more.
