Typically, accounts like "games" -- standard accounts created by the system
for system use, not for actual logins -- my system has about a dozen such
accounts -- do not have passwords. That is, the password field in
/etc/passwd or /etc/shadow (I don't recall if RH had moved to shadow
passwords by 5.2) contains a single asterisk (*), signifying that the
account has NO valid password.
Look at the password field in the appropriate file to see if the account has
a password at all. Unless you assigned one explicitly, I'll bet it doesn't.
