Gnome and KDE are alternate windowing environments to use with XFree86. They
use different winsow managers, provide somewhat different standard services,
and are built on different GUI-tool libraries (gtk for Gnome, QT for KDE).

Either will work with any reasonably modern Linux. RH 5.2 is old enough (the
current version, 6.2, is itself over 6 months old) that one or both might
not have shipped on the CD ... I no longer have an RH 5.2 CD around to check. 

If they are not on your CD, your best bet might be to move to the current
version of Red Hat.
