My query is more on mails than linux OS itself. If it is deemed off-topic,
i'd appreciate that ideas are sent to me privately. Here it is:
I just upgraded our mail server from sendmail to postfix on a rh6.1 server.
So far, it has been doing a lot better than sendmail before (delivers mail a
lot faster than sendmail). However, one thing i cant get to work is the
hosting of multiple domains for email (which i achieve thru Cw with
sendmail). I quite followed every detail of the manual, but i dont know
which im missing. My main hostname is main.rbcom.com, and among the domains
it hosts is banner.com, of which mail.banner.com resolves to same IP as
main.rbcom.com. I wanted my users to receive mails addressed to both
[EMAIL PROTECTED] and [EMAIL PROTECTED] But when i send to [EMAIL PROTECTED], i get
"mail loops back to myself..".
Here's my /etc/postfix/virtual, verbatim:
banner.com anything
mail.banner.com anything
Am i missing something on that config? An interesting line in
/var/log/maillog that relates to the above mail transaction says:
Jun 9 00:51:20 main postfix/smtp[1579]: warning: host
mail.banner.com[192.168.0.1] replied
to HELO/EHLO with my own hostname main.rbdomain.com
Jun 9 00:51:20 main postfix/smtp[1579]: 7E69C1DE23:
to=<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>,
relay=mail.banner.com[192.168.0.1], delay=0,
status=bounced (mail for mail.banner.com
loops back to myself)
Thanks for any help.
Mary Christie.
