Question: Is it true that I can't use Win98 with Linux or can I. If not
then I will be using creative english sentences when the piece of
equipment comes and I can't use it.

Actually, the retail upgrade to Win 95 did not support USB. That suport
came only with the W95 OSR 3 release, I think. Win 98 does not have
that problem.
USB support with Linux is improving, as Mandrake supports mice and
keyboards so far. Probably improve by the next release. <grin>
