I just got this message when I booted, can someone explain what it means:
Jun 22 01:52:53 localhost fsck: /dev/hda7: 89606/528384 files (2.0% non-contiguo
us), 1646863/2112516 blocks
When I was trying to get XF86Config sorted out a while ago I had to start
and stop X alot. I was lucky if I could startx more than twice a session
for, each time I killed X and then tried to start it again, I would be left with
a hung computer, no keyboard response, no screen, no anything. I would have to
reset my machine. This still happens only I don't have to kill X all the time
so it's not a problem per se. What I'm getting to is that the 2.0% was 1.2, then
1.3%, and so on. I'd like to know it means because (a) it doesn't look like it's
a good thing and (b) I just ran DiskDefragmenter on my wi**ows partition and
the number went from 1.6% to 2.0% non-contiguous! What's Bill doing to my
machine!!!? If there is damage being done, is it hard or soft?
re the X problem, could it be a RAM thing? I have 64Mb of it on an i686 with
a 6Gb hard drive. I read something, for some reason, some time ago, about RAM
not 'flushing' properly, could this be the problem?
I doubt very much that I'm hogging brainwidth, but
please let me know if y'all are concerned about the bandwidth with questions
like these. . .
