I've never tried the ALSA or OSS drivers, but have you looked at the Open Source
drivers from Creative themselves? You can download drivers for the SB Live!
cards (emu10k) from http://opensource.creative.com  I've been useing those
drivers since the day I got my SB Live! and I've never had a problem.
