I just read Ray's reply to this mail and the penny dropped here. You are
using Slackware, there are a few "gotya's" it seems when using slackware,
you need to read;
usr/doc/Linux-mini-HOWTOs/Cable-Modem
Pay attention to section 3.2 (@home)
I hope my comment on "read" does not offend you being in your position.
