There's a script in /etc/rc.d/init.d, called httpd. I append it at the end
in case you lost it. On the other hand, if you have the apache-rpm
installed, you should have the script, too.

To start http by hand, just enter "/etc/rc.d/init.d/httpd start", stop it
with "/etc/rc.d/init.d/httpd stop", of course.

Use "chkconfig" to have it started at boottime. chkconfig takes care of
the links in all the /etc/rc*.d directories managing the daemons for each
runlevel.

"chkconfig http on" wil do the job. "chkconfig --list" will show you
which daemons are started at which runlevels. See the short manpage of
chkconfig for all information.
