I've already read through man gpm, and I've tried
gpm -k
perhaps if I just examine my logs (/var/log/messages maybe?)
I'll see which parameters the laptop uses when I turn the thing
on. If I have the external mouse plugged in, it works, and if not
the touchpad works. I do believe it is a ps2 at heart.
