If you installed slackware the "adviseable" way, install everything, just
under one gig, then there should be no problems at all with any compiler.

Lawson told you howto see what directory structure is involved using tar, i
use zless, you can then see in the top left hand corner if the archive
creates its own directory or not. Most do, altho in some rare cases you
need to create you own directory first.
