hi all synopsis: there is pcmcia disk drive: Toshiba MK5002MPL HDD1232 A ZP01
it worked fine on my old Debian system based on 2.6.8 kernel. But I changed the system to new one - Ubuntu 8.04 based on 2.6.24 kernel. i was surprised that my card doesn't work on new system. looks like the card is identified but nevertheless gos unworkable. look at the dmesg log: [ 63.406214] pccard: PCMCIA card inserted into slot 0 [ 63.406222] cs: memory probe 0xe8000000-0xefffffff: excluding 0xe8000000-0xefffffff [ 63.406242] cs: memory probe 0xc0200000-0xcfffffff: excluding 0xc0200000-0xc11fffff 0xc1a00000-0xc21fffff 0xc2a00000-0xc31fffff 0xc3a00000-0xcc1fffff 0xcca00000-0xcd1fffff 0xcda00000-0xce1fffff 0xcea00000-0xcf1fffff 0xcfa00000-0xd01fffff [ 63.412027] pcmcia: registering new device pcmcia0.0 [ 63.512064] scsi3 : pata_pcmcia [ 63.512459] ata3: PATA max PIO0 cmd 0x4100 ctl 0x410e irq 3 [ 63.643093] ata3.00: ATA-0: TOSHIBA MK5002MPL, V2.10 A, max PIO2 [ 63.643097] ata3.00: 9818550 sectors, multi 16: LBA [ 63.643376] ata3.00: failed to set xfermode (err_mask=0x1) [ 63.643417] ata3: failed to recover some devices, retrying in 5 secs [ 63.939997] ata3.00: failed to set xfermode (err_mask=0x1) [ 63.940033] ata3: failed to recover some devices, retrying in 5 secs [ 64.064815] ata3.00: failed to set xfermode (err_mask=0x1) [ 64.064852] ata3.00: disabled i studied what is written for pcmcia devises but didn't find the solution. perhaps my device little bit exotic but i used it and it works fine on Windows and previous Linux system thanks in advance, Valentin _______________________________________________ Linux PCMCIA reimplementation list http://lists.infradead.org/mailman/listinfo/linux-pcmcia
