El incidente fue que recientemente se dio a conocer una carta en la que el
máximo responsable de la distribución de Linux Mandriva da a conocer una
mala jugada de Microsoft. En ella deja al descubierto que la empresa de
Steve Ballmer convenció al gobierno de Nigeria de instalar Windows encima
del sistema operativo Mandriva, incluido en unos portátiles educativos que
había adquirido.

Hace poco se cerró un acuerdo con el Gobierno de Nigeria a cerca de la
implementación de una solución HW/SW económica para sus escuelas, cuyo lote
inicial sería de 17,000 máquinas. Esá propuesta fue la Classmate PC de
Intel, con una solución Mandriva Linux personalizada.

El gobierno aceptó dicha propuesta, entonces Microsoft trató de llevarse el
acuerdo pero el cliente no cambió de opinión, así que el trato fue cerrado,
se certificó el software y se enviaron las máquinas.

Sin embargo una noticia de ultimo momento impactó a Linux Mandriva, el
gobierno pagará por el software de Mandriva como se había acordado
originalmente, pero luego será reemplazado por Windows. Evidentemente esta
situación ha propiciado el descontento de la compañía y en la carta de la
que a continuación se presenta liga, se manifiesta la molestia.
