We've been running CentOS 4 for some time now on all our Dell servers.
Our primary application is certified for RHEL, but CentOS is not
'officially' supported. It hasn't been an issue thus far. But now, our
application vendor has certified Ubuntu, so we are considering
switching to Ubuntu so we can have an officially supported free Linux
platform.

I know Dell does not provide OMSA for Ubuntu, but I am aware of the
packages at ftp://ftp.sara.nl/pub/sara-omsa/dists/dell/sara/ and have
found many how-to pages on getting it running. But what can you tell
me about practical experience with those packages? What is the long
term outlook for them? Are there any significant known issues? I see
that they currently lag behind the latest Dell versions. What is their
typical release cycle? What about support for the latest Dell
hardware?

Last time I checked, Dell's statement was that there are no plans to
directly provide OMSA for Ubuntu. Is that still true?

Thanks for your comments,

Jeff
