Jeffrey,

*some* of the DUP kits will work on Debian Lenny (i just noticed that
the Broadcom LOM kit worked the other day, amazingly), but in generaly,
i have found that the DUP kits have all the HAPI (disney) crap with
lots of RPM loads which do NOT work on Lenny.

I don't know in *this* particular case if the DUP kits for PERCs now
work on Debian or not. I know that the BMC updates worked at one
point (or at least the PIEconfig.sh update executable (bmcflash or
something), but other times i have seen 'bmcflash' actually try to
do the HAPI loads by extracting a HAPI payload. Is all of that
REALLY necessary?

I am working from *experience* that i have had to create my own
deployment scripts using the payloads from the DUP kits to get a
reliable and workable firmware update mechanism on Debian Lenny.
(i have one for PERC4/5/6 and one for BIOS updates)

I understand a lot of work has gone into the DUP infrastructure,
but it would be OH SO AWESOME if the Dell DUP dev team could design
a DUP packaging that would work on Debian/Ubuntu, or be even more
general across all/many linux distros.

thanks for asking!
