Hello, i'm little bit bothered : I work on a project concerning centralized storage for virtualization (and data also). I ordered several R710 and three MD3000 storage array to act as centralized NFS/ISCSI storage
The idea : having a R710 with PERC 6E + SAS attachement (just single path) to a MD3000 array and then installing ISCSI/NFS Software (of my choice) on the R710 to access to the MD3000 array Well, i planned to use NFS/ISCSI alternative software like Open-E, Nexentastor, OpenFiler or maybe just an Debian with an NFS/ISCSI target server I think i should made a mistake, because i red in MD3000 documentation that the array have to be configured and managed with Dell Powervault Storage Manager utility (so running on Windows, RHEL, SUSE OS) and a dedicated manager server ? In fact, i misunderstand that i could just plug a MD1000 array with a PERC 6E RAID controller to do that (i tought MD1000 were just cabinets HDD extension for MD3000). As the MD3000 hardware were ordered and will soon be delivered, i wonder if i can use a MD3000 strorage array just as a MD1000 storage array directly attached to the server with a PERC 6E RAID storage card Does anybody used a MD3000 array as just as JBOD or RAID device with software like Open-E, OpenFiler and configuring it without having to install and use Dell Utility "Strorage Manager" ? Thank you for your help Arnaud _______________________________________________ Linux-PowerEdge mailing list [email protected] https://lists.us.dell.com/mailman/listinfo/linux-poweredge Please read the FAQ at http://lists.us.dell.com/faq
