Sup, PowerEdge? Can anyone recommend a Linux LiveCD with Gparted, and which supports the PowerEdge 2800 with PERC 4, please?
What I've tried: System Rescue CD 1.3.1 - recognises the disks, works great cloning one drive to another using `dd`, but the command-line `parted` refuses to resize NTFS, saying it's unsupported. System Rescue CD doesn't feature GParted. GParted Live 0.4-6-1 (official GParted live CD) - boots to X windows, doesn't load GParted itself. Knoppix 5.3.1 (2008-03) - fails to boot, giving an error whilst loading the kernel. Knoppix 5.1.1 (2007-01) - works great, boots to desktop, GParted recognises the disks, but the version of GParted on this live CD is only 0.2.5. This last version of GParted seems quite dated - it's a 2006 release on the GParted website - and I am reluctant to use it on the NTFS partition of Windows 2003 Server that I want to resize. This is a C: partition, and therefore can't be enlarged within Windows itself. I'm downloading Knoppix V6.2 (2009-11-18) right now, but won't be able to try it for an hour or two, as it'll take me a little while to back up the current partition. Any suggestions gratefully received, Stroller. PS: apologies if you receive this message twice. I originally posted 13 hours ago, and it's not showing in the archives. _______________________________________________ Linux-PowerEdge mailing list [email protected] https://lists.us.dell.com/mailman/listinfo/linux-poweredge Please read the FAQ at http://lists.us.dell.com/faq
