Hi there,
(Table best viewed in fixed-width font)
Poweredge 2650 with Perc3, I have one drive on my system which shows
incongruity in `afacli`:
$ sudo afacli open afa0 : disk show smart /full
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DELL PowerEdge Expandable RAID Controller 2 Command Line Interface
Copyright 1998-2004 Adaptec, Inc. All rights reserved
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Executing: open "afa0"
Executing: disk show smart /full=TRUE
Smart Method of Enable
Capable Informational Exception Performance Log
Interval Report Error
B:ID:L Device Exceptions(MRIE) Control Enabled Errors
Timer (secs.) Count Count
------ ------- ---------------- --------- ----------- ------
------------- ------ ------
0:01:0 Y 6 Y N Y
600 0 0
0:02:0 Y 6 Y N
Y 0 0 0
0:03:0 Y 6 Y N Y
600 0 0
0:04:0 Y 6 Y N Y
600 0 0
0:06:0 N
$
This has been kinda bugging me as I've been getting to grips with the
afacli syntax and banging my head against the wall, but it has only
been since I started composing this email that I realised the error
count for this drive is actually 0. With that in mind, I'm kinda
inclined to think this isn't anything to worry about, but I thought
I'd throw the question open for advice or comment why this might be
different, and whether it's important.
This disk 2 is a Seagate ST336607LC, all the others are Hitachi
DK32DJ-36MCs.
It seems some versions of afacli may allow the command `disk set
smart /interval_timer=600` to set this (see [1] PDF section 5-1_ but I
just an "unrecognised switch" error when I try that. My version of
afacli is 4.1-0 (Build #7420). Interestingly `disk show smart /
view_changeable /full` does suggest that this might be a settable
field (see [1] section 5-22).
It's very early days getting to grips with this, so have spent hours
already confusing myself. Please forgive me if the reasons are obvious.
Also, any command-line utilities for monitoring other aspects of the
Poweredge 2650? I'm guessing CPU temperature and maybe fans (??) can
be monitored with lm_sensors. How about the status of the (redundant)
PSUs?
Stroller.
