Ok, I've just updated all the firmware on my system (CentOS 5.4) to that
in OM_6.2.0_SUU_A00.iso, and rebooted before trying this.
Using OMSA 6.1 (since 6.2 doesn't want to play nicely for some reason),
when I perform the migration the system eventually falls apart after a
few minutes.
I start getting I/O and journal errors, since the RAID has gone offline
according to Linux.
"OMSA > Storage > Virtual Disks"
- Shows no virtual disks.
"OMSA > Storage > Connector 0 > Backplane > Physical Disks"
- Disk 0:0:0 is "Foreign". This disk was the sole member of the
booted RAID-0.
- Disk 0:0:1 is "Ready". This disk is the one I'm trying to
migrate to.
As you can imagine, the system is basically hosed at this point - I'm
lucky OMSA is still running.
So, I reboot the box (echo "b" > /proc/sysrq-trigger, since "reboot"
doesn't work).
When it gets to the PERC Bios, it again reports disk 0:0:0 as having a
Foreign configuration and thus there are zero Virtual Disks managed by
the adapter.
I'm unsure what to do now; I suspect that if I completely clear the raid
configuration and re-create the single-disk raid-0, that I'd be bootable
again.
Fortunately (for me) this is a testing box so I'm not bothered about
trashing it, however the reason why I'm testing this is because I
actually want to do it on a production box. Currently, I have no faith
that this will work :/
Mark.
