Frank,

you may want to go to the Virtual Disk and do a "check consistency". This
compares the data from one physical disk to the other (raid1) and corrects any
bad blocks.

Subject: PD 'medium error' shown in OMSA log but VD status is still ready,
should I worry?

Hi All,
One of our 3-year old PE2950 servers recently throw Mysql table read
errors frequently, especially in this month. We noticed the 'medium
error' shown in the log exported from OMSA as following started from
07/23/10, 07/23/10 18:41:16: DEV_REC:Medium Error DevId[3] Tgt 3
retires=0 07/23/10 18:41:16: EVT#04531-07/23/10 18:41:16: 110=Corrected
medium error
during recovery on PD 03(e1/s3) at 17a7753b
09/17/10 4:38:54: DEV_REC:Medium Error DevId[3] Tgt 3 retires=0
09/19/10 4:39:27: DEV_REC:Medium Error DevId[3] Tgt 3 retires=0
... 10/17/10 10:52:10: EVT#05193-10/17/10 10:52:10: 110=Corrected medium
error during recovery on PD 03(e1/s3) at 17b2e07b
10/17/10 14:53:34: DEV_REC:Medium Error DevId[3] Tgt 3 retires=0
10/17/10 15:43:01: DEV_REC:Medium Error DevId[3] Tgt 3 retires=0
10/17/10 17:41:32: DEV_REC:Medium Error DevId[3] Tgt 3 retires=0
10/17/10 18:02:01: DEV_REC:Medium Error DevId[3] Tgt 3 retires=0
10/17/10 19:12:49: DEV_REC:Medium Error DevId[3] Tgt 3 retires=0
10/17/10 19:12:50: EVT#05200-10/17/10 19:12:50: 110=Corrected medium
error during recovery on PD 03(e1/s3) at 17a73c51
10/17/10 19:42:59: DEV_REC:Medium Error DevId[3] Tgt 3 retires=0
10/17/10 19:43:00: EVT#05202-10/17/10 19:43:00: 110=Corrected medium
error during recovery on PD 03(e1/s3) at 17a743f6

And the first Mysql table error was reported on 07/24/10 according to
log, 100724 9:22:13 [ERROR] /usr/libexec/mysqld: Incorrect key file for
table './discuz/cdb_threads.MYI'; try to repair it
100724 9:22:13 [ERROR] Got error 126 when reading table
'./discuz/cdb_threads' ...
101018 16:36:35 [ERROR] Got error 127 when reading table
'./discuz/cdb_promptmsgs'

So far, we're still doing other integrity test on the DB and don't
know if the two are related. The VD status in OMSA is ready (green
check) though. Should I worry about this and replace the PD 03(e1/s3)
disk? Any suggestion? Thanks!

Regards,
Frank Wang
