Rick,
The C2100 system is not supported by OMSA. It is possible that this is
contributing to the failures you are seeing. Even if you can get OMSA
successfully installed and running, at best you will have a subset of the
functionality available on non-"C" versions of PowerEdge. I have not worked
with the C2100 so can only guess what will be missing. Highly unlikely you
would have storage management unless you have a PERC card. BIOS setup and
iDrac (non-BMC) features will probably be missing. Some features that are
based on standard interfaces such as SMBIOS inventory data and sensor
monitoring via IPMI, probably will work. I know this is not the answer you
were looking for, but better to know now so that you don't spend a lot of time
trying to get the install to work. If your primary interest is in sensor
monitoring, you might be better off to focus on using IPMI Tool.

Subject: Ubuntu 10.04 and Dell OM 6.3 installation problems

Hi,

I'm attempting to install OM 6.3 on Ubuntu 10.04 from
http://linux.dell.com/repo/community/deb/latest/ and encounter errors when
srvadmin-isvc is installed. The failure I receive is:

Setting up srvadmin-isvc (5.9.3-1) ...
dpkg: error processing srvadmin-isvc (--configure):
subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 255
Processing triggers for libc-bin ...
ldconfig deferred processing now taking place
Errors were encountered while processing:
 srvadmin-isvc
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)
A package failed to install. Trying to recover:
Setting up srvadmin-isvc (5.9.3-1) ...
dpkg: error processing srvadmin-isvc (--configure):
subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 255
Processing triggers for libc-bin ...
ldconfig deferred processing now taking place
Errors were encountered while processing:
 srvadmin-isvc

I initially attempted to install srvadmin-all, then srvadmin-storageservices,
then just srvadmin-isvc, but all of them fail at *-isvc.

Reading through the list, it seems that some folks have been able to get things
running on 10.04, but I have not had any luck. Has anyone encountered this
issue before? I am trying to install on a C2100, if that makes any difference.
Also, due to firewall restrictions, I have created a local repository for the
Dell OM repo (I *can* access the standard Ubuntu repos).

Any info on a resolution would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Rick
