Of course.  The 70-persistent-net.rules files will still exist, you
can name them whatever you like there.  However, renaming devices from
one ethX (arbitrarily assigned by the kernel) to another ethX  (set in
this rules file) will continue to be race- and error-prone (if you've
ever seen ethX_rename or _tmp_XXXX device names after boot, this is
what I mean), but no different than today.
