Hi,

Then I'm tempted to ask why the dsu tool updates iDRAC at the very end ? (I seem to have seen that on the few servers I've updated last week).

Bye.

Here is the recommended sequence when updating firmware on the Dell
PowerEdge server:

1) iDRAC
2) Lifecycle Controller
3) BIOS
4) Diagnostics
5) OS Driver Pack
6) RAID
7) NIC
8) PSU
9) CPLD
10) Other update

Regardless of the methodology used to update firmware's, iDRAC and LCC
should always be upgraded first before upgrading the other components
on the server.
Hope this helps.

Regards,
Sashi

Check if the iDRAC NIC activity light indicates traffic coming in and out.
If there is no light, then the iDRAC is bricked and the mainboard
needs to be replaced. Happened to us many, many times.
If there is light, reset the iDRAC by holding the i button longer than
16 seconds.

So we had this older R610 which was put off production and was trying
to give it a new life. Used Dell repository manager to create a
firmware bundle and after this got the errors on the title.

Obviously, the system didn't like the firmware updates, so has anyone
else experienced this before and know of a way around it? System is
out of warranty and all I'm able to get in touch with at Dell is basic
support (ie motherboard is bad).

Supposedly, the LCC repair package is what's needed (USC file) but do
I need to install an OS on this first? Is there a live CD/DVD/USB with
the Dell Linux Repository by any chance or a way to quickly build one?
Or do I need to install an OS on this first?

I have a second R610 (clone) that has not been updated and iDRAC does
boot and I can get to the GUI, except it needs a password reset, and
for some reason the box is not displaying any video.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

I've set up my Red Hat Satellites with two custom channels, one for
DSU and one for OMSA. I have also installed Dell's RPM GPG key
(http://linux.dell.com//repo/hardware/dsu/public.key) on my systems in
order to verify integrity of the RPMs.

Thanks - I pulled the iDRAC modules from the box that had no video and
was able to reset them on the current system. Firmware I have now is:

iDRAC 1.80.17
Lifecycle 1.5.1.57

I have the Lifecycle repair package, but cannot find the latest idrac firmware.

Thanks

Hi,

while I still try to recover these R610 from a failed firmware
upgrade, I got a hold of an R710 which has RHEL 6.9 installed (just
updated) but firmware is very much old.

Is there a preferred update method and or steps? I would do it via
DSU, but should I update something first before anything else? Box has
iDRAC 6 enterprise, and Perc H700.

Thanks in advance.

Ricardo.

You can get
https://downloads.dell.com/FOLDER03547784M/1/iDRAC6_2.85_A00_FW_IMG.exe
and then just unzip it to get firmimg.d6

[boutilpj@bartdl dell]$ unzip -l iDRAC6_2.85_A00_FW_IMG.exe
