I have to admit the last time I slapped a idrac card into a
server was 2 years ago. So I searched for idrac pictures and there are
lots of little variations. Oh well.

In any case, here is some useful info for others:

1. If you get this kind of error message,

# ./IDRAC_FRMW_LX_R218238.BIN
/tmp/IDRAC_FRMW_LX_R218238.BIN-26250-16229/spsetup.sh: line 124:
source: buildVer.sh: file not found
#

1.1. extract the .BIN file as Stephen Dowdy showed in a previous message
1.2. Fine the entry for the file not found in spsetup.sh, in this case

typeset -r _BUILDVER=buildVer.sh

and add "./" to the front of it,

typeset -r _BUILDVER="./buildVer.sh"

2. If it barks it cannot file lockfile, get the one (at least in
centos) in the procmail package.

And now I think I am back to the original question since the *right*
idrac firmware docs say 1.80 and 1.85 recommend BIOS 6.0.4 or newer; I
am on 3.0.0. Per Stephen Smoogen, I will have to walk up the tree from
3.0.0 to 6.6.0. Thing is I have not found the url for where Dell hide
the old BIOS. The quest goes on...

At least I was able to make a small knowledge contribution based on my
misadventures...
