A disk in an MD1000 attached to a PERC5E controller had
failed and was replaced by a field technician.

Now the disk is not visible in Dell Openmanage, and not
visible using MegaCli.

Is there any way to make the new disk visible without
a reboot. (I have 'resolved' a similiar issue before by
rebooting) Can a SCSI reset be forced through the
controller?

OS: RHEL 5.2
Name : PERC 5/E Adapter
Firmware Version : 5.2.2-0076
Driver Version : 00.00.03.15-RH1

the drive and an OpenManage message was issued:
