Dear Friends,
I have a Red Hat Linux (kernel 2.0.32) with a PPP Server on /dev/ttyS0
and /dev/ttyS1. This works fine with Motorola modem 33.6. All clients on
Windows 95 can logon with no problem.
Recently I purchase a old cyclades multiport model cyclom 8ys and
installed it.
Linux recognized that and enable all ports (/dev/ttyc0 thru /dev/ttyc7)
I tried to configure modens to work with it, but after many tests, I
discovered that this board not generate one signal to pin 4 of modens,
Request to Send.
Because this, on init string on mgetty there is no return from modem.
Mgetty send commands and dont heard from modem "OK". In force initchat mode,
mgetty gets "OK" with 0D OA after "OK".
Bellow is the pin out of cyclom 8ys and pin in of modem:
Cyclom 8ys Modem
Pin Signal Pin Signal Signal Source
1 TXD 2 TXD computer
2 RXD 3 RXD Modem
3 DTR 20 DTR computer
4 CTS 5 CTS modem
5 GND 7 GND both
6 DCD 8 CD modem
4 RTS computer
6 DSR modem
Legend:
TXD = transmit data
RXD = Receive data
DTR = Data terminal ready
CTS = Clear to Send
GND = signal Ground
DCD or CD = Data Carrier Detected
(*)RTS = Request to Send
(*)DSR = Data Set Ready
(*) ausent signal
I use hardware flow control in all ports. I tried to change cables to
test. Nothing changes.
Waiting some idea,
Regards,
