Ok lets start at the beginning. Im pretty much a newbie as far as
linux goes... Im running a 2 os system (RH Linux5.1 + Win98).
I boot into Linux using a boot floppy because i have not figured out
how to use 'Lilo' or a better utility.
Firstly i think i need to re-compile my kernel because 'PPP' is only
in module form. I've read new reports from other users about minicom,
well how do i use minicom to make a connection, also how do i setup my
modem its a 'diamond supra express 56K' . The most ive got out of
minicom is to setup a telephone number/username/password, In the dial
config , but when i try to connect it cant find my modem.
My modem is on com port 3 in win98. I've tryed using the control panel
to set my modem, and also used netcfg but with no luck..
To be honest im getting tired of re-installing . I'd really like to
get PPP working . So i can make my box dedicated to Linux and dump
'Microsoft in the bin'
If read user reports on how they use other utils like 'EzPPP' and
other stuff to get there connection. My problem is i can only download
it to Win98 , but how the hell to i get to Linux ? I've tryed cp'ing
to floppy but then linux cant read the floppy :('
I've read all the HOW_TO PPP shit and none of it seems to work, maybe
its just me, like i am a newbie at this OS.
I understand i might have to write chat scripts and could i get some help
with those.. and what other things i might need...
PLZ PLZ PLZ is there any1 out there who has the answer, and can help
me get connected...???
