I have successfully been using linux to access my ISP for a number of
months.
I am using a 3 PC network routing through a 2.0.29 kernel linux gateway
handling
the IP-Masquerading.
This worked well. I have recently installed ISDN and am using ZyXEL
omni.net plus
ISDN TA unit. Since installing the ISDN the connection has been very
unstable.
I am using PPP-2.2.0 which builds without problem as does the Kernel.
I have tried connecting using:
pppd connect 'chat -v "" ATDI08450798667 CONNECT "" ogin: username word:
password' \
/dev/cua1 38400 debug crtscts modem defaultroute
(the I in the ATDI means dial ISDN at the TA)
This does occasionally connect and when it does works without error from the
linux box but works
intermittently from the network. ( it doesn't work more often than it
does) as soon as any network traffic
is passed through the gateway the link hangs.
Does anyone have any experience using PPP via an ISDN link ? is there any
difference between
an ISDN connection and a MODEM ?
any help greatly appreciated
