I am not using wildcards (only on server and IP place)There is no problem to
connect with win95 to linux box without having pap-secretsfile if user name and
password match exactly client (this is obvious) and secrets parts and are
the same(this is also clear)as user name and password in linux passwd file.
As I change secrets part on both server and win95 box to a different word than
password then
connection is rejected. Server shows the line
rcvd [PAP AuthReq id=0x1 user=username, password=my_password]
which end up with failure since on linux server there is a secret instead of
my_password.
But why win95 does not send secrets it has in pap-secrets file instead of
password(my_password).
By away, where is the correct place for pap-secrets file in win95. I put it
under windows
directory and the copy under windows/system.
Linux client has no such a problem. Did send username and secrets to server and
was properly
recognized.
