I have experienced almost the same problem as you but during
the load the system is not locked, not only 4.5 but since 4.06...
By looking at the "strace" output, it seems that Netscape is trying
to read/write from/to some file/socket? but got timeout/alarm
and got -1 with errno=EAGAIN (try again) repeateadly...
