Geof,
Thanks, I think I got some progress.
First, the new log:
Jan 6 13:54:17 xcpc pppd[2088]: rcvd [CCP TermReq id=0x6 00 00 02 dc]
Jan 6 13:54:17 xcpc pppd[2088]: sent [CCP TermAck id=0x6]
Jan 6 13:54:17 xcpc pppd[2088]: rcvd [IPCP ConfReq id=0x7 <compress VJ 0f

Jan 6 13:54:17 xcpc pppd[2088]: sent [IPCP ConfAck id=0x7 <compress VJ 0f

Jan 6 13:54:17 xcpc pppd[2088]: local IP address 199.5.70.102
Jan 6 13:54:17 xcpc pppd[2088]: remote IP address 199.5.70.112
Jan 6 13:54:17 xcpc pppd[2088]: found interface eth0 for proxy arp
Jan 6 13:54:20 xcpc pppd[2088]: sent [CCP ConfReq id=0x1]
Jan 6 13:54:44 xcpc last message repeated 8 times
Jan 6 13:54:47 xcpc pppd[2088]: CCP: timeout sending Config-Requests
Jan 6 13:56:54 xcpc pppd[2088]: Hangup (SIGHUP)
Jan 6 13:56:54 xcpc pppd[2088]: Modem hangup
Jan 6 13:56:54 xcpc pppd[2088]: Connection terminated.
Jan 6 13:56:54 xcpc pppd[2088]: Exit.
Ive found that:
"CCP allows the two ends of a PPP connection to negotiate whether to
use data compression, and if so, which algorithm to use. If one side of a
link requests an algorithm that the other side does not support, traffic
over the link continues, but in uncompressed form."
So, CCP is the probably the "root" of the problem.
This problem started when I changed the modem of the PPP-server.
Thats why I think its a modem problem.
What do you think ?
Thanks again,
Cristiano.

This doesn't look like a modem problem to me, as the connection seems to
be there. However, I find 'kdebug' output difficult to interpret. Please
repost log output using the 'debug' option instead.
BTW, the 'ttloop' message is associated with telnetd, not the pppd
process itself.
