I'm having a weird problem with pppd. I know this isn't really ppp
related, but since the most common way to reproduce it is pppd, I thought
I'd ask here and see if anyone had found a workaround.
The problem is this. When I start pppd (2.3.3 source or binary, 2.3.4
binary), it starts chat and my chatscript, and then hangs without dialing.
If I kill the pppd process once, I get the following message in syslog
pppd: Interrupted system call ioctl(TIOCSETD, N_TTY)
or something very close to that. The ioctl call is what is important.
After this message, the chat program dials out and attempts to connect,
but I've already killed pppd, so nothing happens.
I thought it might be a modem problem, but the exact same modem worked
under a straight RedHat 5.1 install a couple months ago. I'm currently
running 2.2.0-pre4.
If any more information is required, or there is a better place to ask
this, any help is appreciated.
