According to the specs, this modem requires software running on the Host
CPU for the AT commands (i.e., it's a Winmodem).  Unless the manufacturer
provides drivers for Linux (none do, to my knowledge), you should return
the modem immediately for a refund or an exchange for a Linux-compatible
modem.
