hi,

using redhat kernel 2.036 based host to dial into bsdi 3.1 based ppp server
server works fine with many mac, win95/nt clients.

non-pap, non-chap login password negotiation in effect

summary of negotiation is below:

login password negotiates fine,

PPP ready. (garbage characters as normal)

Serial connection established.
Using interface ppp0
Connect: ppp0 <--> /dev/modem
LCP: timeout sending Config-Requests
Connection terminated.
Exit.

during some of the debugging sessions in the last 16 hours, the following was
displayed before LCP:timeout sending Config-Requests:

"Frame with bad fcs, excess=5ee1"

have tried multiple options in option file, including mtu mru, etc.. etc.. etc..

anybody have any ideas? i'm out.
thanks,
best,
steve
