-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

I've posted before about some problems with pppd lockups. The lockups are
occuring _before_ any LCP layer negotiation, but after mgetty has worked
out it is an incomming ppp connection.

The logs report:

Apr 28 15:45:46 goblin pppd[848]: pppd 2.2.0 started by root, uid 0
Apr 28 15:45:46 goblin pppd[848]: Using interface ppp7
Apr 28 15:45:46 goblin pppd[848]: Connect: ppp7 <--> /dev/ttyD0
Apr 28 15:46:18 goblin pppd[848]: Hangup (SIGHUP)

The pppd process recieves the hangup notification, but doesn't exit. It's
not killable with -15 either, it has to be killed with -9. It's as if the
other end is dropping the connection and pppd is stuck unable to deal with
the dropped link.. LCP timeouts do not appear to work, so I'd presume the
LCP layer isn't up properly..

Any advice? We've not heard a thing from any customers about not being
able to get on for a month, which concerns me a fair bit :|
